That certain something

Honest and unconventional. Since 2009.

We produce wines with character. Wines with rough edges. Handmade for individualists. For people who know what they want. Just like us. Our wine reflects who we are.

Welcome to Weinmanufaktur Clemens Strobl – in the wine region „Wagram“.

Our Work

A family winery. Uncomplicated and no slave to tradition.

Organic viticulture: sustainable and versatile. Mixed cropping over monoculture. Experimental and with curiosity. Wine makers with passion and enthusiasm. Hand-crafted wherever possible. Respect for nature. No chemistry and without irrigation. It is worth it to support nature and just to let it be. Vital and wild. No mass production, no purchased grapes. Just our own vineyards and us.

Terroir

The Wagram region. Prehistoric mountain range in the heart of Lower Austria.

Loam and loess, several metres in depth, Million-year-old tertiary gravel. A soil that acts like sponge; soft and fertile with outstanding water retention. Ex’site’ing diversity, outstanding terroir. The infamous Wagram and its impermeable mark on both the landscape and the wine. Mutual respect for both white and red wines. The promising region. Enjoyable and worth discovering.

Pfaffenberg: natural border between Kremstal and the Wachau.

It has „Wachau“ terroir. Prehistoric stone terraces, steep and harsh. Bedrock soil with pockets of less topsoil. 35-year-old vines, sun-kissed, enjoying the most beautiful view on the Danube.

Artisan

Hand-crafted sounds dirty – and it is.

Hand-picked, perfect grapes. No crushing, no pre-fermentation operations; without compromise.

„HANDMADE WINE“ by conviction.

That certain something

Inspiring winemakers, sophisticated wines with soul and depth.

Rich and supple. Fine and elegant. Our top priority is the purity of taste. Clean and fresh. No botrytis notes. No use of cultured aromatic yeasts. If the wine doesn’t rock our boat, we bin it. To challenge ourselves over playing it safe. That’s not always easy, but it’s worth it in the long term. Just like our work by hand.
